I love visiting new places, and I love new restaurants most of all. Back in college, a friend of mine and I decided to go to a new lunch place every week since there were so many awesome places in San Luis Obispo. I also loved to discover new, amazing places that I could recommend to all my friends.
Enter Yelp:
Yelp is the fun and easy way to find, review and talk about what’s great (and not so great) in your world. You already know that asking friends is the best way to find restaurants, dentists, hairstylists, and anything local. Yelp makes it fast and easy by collecting and organizing your friends’ recommendations in one convenient place.
Perfect.
There is exists one more thing, an extra “level” in Yelp. “The Yelp Elite Squad is our way of recognizing some of our most active and influential members, both on and off the site. ” I had the opportunity to meet a lot of awesome people when I joined Team Yelp for the Livestrong 5k in San Jose. I was encouraged to post as many reviews I could and garner as many “reviews” of my reviews so I could achieve Elite.
As the picture above shows, I hit elite finally. Technically it isn’t a big deal; I’m invited to events around the Bay Area for free, where I get free food and drink and hang out with a bunch of people. But it’s a fun feather in my cap.
If there is anyone else on Yelp, my URL is vadavia.yelp.com — I hope to see more web enthusiasts join up and talk about their favorite places in the Bay.
